Guest Speaker Session: Introduction to Real-World Software Development
On 22 January 2026, as part of our Voice of Industry initiative, the Employability team at UGM Manchester organised a guest speaker session for our Computing students on the topic “Introduction to Real-World Software Development.”
The session was delivered by Farid Bangash, a hands-on Fractional CTO and Engineering Leader with over 15 years of experience in real-world software development. Farid shared valuable industry insights and practical perspectives on how software development operates in professional environments.
During the session, students gained an overview of how software products are developed within the industry, including the importance of team collaboration, agile working practices, and the process of transforming an idea into a fully deployed product.
The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect their academic learning with real-world industry practices and better understand the skills and approaches required to succeed in the software development field.
